OpenAI Brings iCloud Mail and iCloud Calendar Plugins to ChatGPT
On Tuesday, the tech giant OpenAI—led by Sam Altman—announced the launch of two new plugins for ChatGPT via a post on X. The company stated that the iCloud Mail and iCloud Calendar plugins are now available to ChatGPT users. According to OpenAI, Apple users can access these new plugins through the web version of ChatGPT, as well as via the ChatGPT desktop and iOS applications. Notably, the iCloud Mail and iCloud Calendar plugins are available across all ChatGPT subscription tiers, including the Free, Go, Plus, and Pro plans.
This further expands the list of email service plugins that ChatGPT users can add. OpenAI already offers plugins for Gmail, Outlook, Mailopoly, Superhuman Mail, and Hostinger Mail. By adding these plugins to their ChatGPT accounts, users can grant OpenAI’s AI chatbot access to their emails and calendar schedules. Users can simply enter text prompts to have ChatGPT locate specific emails and extract particular information from them.
In addition, users can ask ChatGPT to provide summaries of unread emails from iCloud Mail, Gmail, and other email services. Furthermore, ChatGPT can access your iCloud calendar to help you review your schedule and send reminders as specific events approach. Users can view a list of available plugins on the web version of ChatGPT; this list also applies to the desktop and iOS versions, where users can add plugins directly.
Recently, OpenAI also introduced new plugins for various applications. For instance, the Sonos plugin for ChatGPT enables users to control their Sonos sound systems directly through the AI chatbot. Similarly, the Canva plugin allows users to access the visual communication platform Canva via ChatGPT. Furthermore, the company has added Hevy and Tripsy plugins for ChatGPT users.
